DRUG CHARGE FILED AGAINST SUSPECT IN DEADLY 2019 COLLEGE STATION CRASH
College Station authorities have filed drug charges against a Madisonville man, related to a 2019 crash that killed a Grimes County woman.
43-year-old Robert Blair is charged with possession of a controlled substance. Authorities say first responders found a meth pipe in his pocket during the rescue from the crash scene, back in May of 2019.
The crash occurred on Highway 6 in College Station, when Blair admitted he came up on slowed traffic at a high rate of speed and lost control of his semi, slamming into a median, flipping his trailer onto the top of his semi.
His passenger, 45-year-old Teresa Ann Schwertner-Lee of Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene.
While first responders were tending to Blair, they said they found a meth pipe in his pocket and gave it to authorities.
Blair allegedly told investigators he had smoked meth a couple of days prior to the crash but claimed the pipe in his pocket did not belong to him. He claimed he found it while loading equipment onto the trailer.
Blair is free on $6,000 bond.
