OVER 200 VACCINATED FOR COVID-19 SO FAR IN WASHINGTON CO.
Over 200 people have received a COVID-19 vaccine thus far in Washington County.
According to the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), as of New Year’s Day, 208 have been administered the first dose of the vaccine. Two doses are required in order to be fully vaccinated.
The state distributed 400 doses of the Moderna vaccine to pharmacies in Brenham, 300 to Brookshire Brothers and 100 to H-E-B.
According to DSHS, 17 vaccinations were administered in Washington County the week of December 13-19. During the week of December 20-26, 52 vaccines were given out. There have been 139 people to receive a vaccine the week of December 27-January 2.
Of those who have been vaccinated, according to DSHS, 91 recipients have been in the 16-49 age range, while 67 have been between 50 and 64 years old, 46 were between the age of 65 and 79, and three have been older than 80.
In comparison, 1,334 people have been vaccinated in Brazos County as of New Year’s Day. Fayette County has administered 384 vaccine doses, while Austin County has given out 207. In Grimes County, 187 have received a vaccine, while 164 have been vaccinated in Waller County, 142 in Lee County, and 118 in Burleson County.
Many locations continue to administer vaccines only to those included in Phase 1A of the DSHS vaccine distribution plan, which covers healthcare workers and residents of long-term care facilities. Limited numbers of vaccines have been made available to those in Phase 1B, which includes people 65 and older or people 16 and older with certain medical conditions.
As of New Year’s Day, according to DSHS, Washington County had an estimated 237 active COVID-19 cases, 1,216 recoveries and 60 deaths. The county is reported to have 1,201 total confirmed cases and 312 probable cases.
