WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO CONSIDER RENAMING FAIRGROUNDS
The Washington County Fairgrounds may soon be known by a new name.
County commissioners at their meeting Tuesday will consider approving changing the name of the Washington County Fairgrounds to the Washington County Expo. Commissioners will also consider approving a new logo for the facility.
Fairgrounds Director Harrison Williams said commissioners and community members have noted that the difference between the Washington County Fair Association and the Washington County Fairgrounds was “muddled.” He said the facility and county fair are run by separate organizations, so in August the effort to rebrand the facility began, and hopes to alleviate confusion with a new name, new logo, and new website.
Also at Tuesday’s meeting, commissioners will consider adopting a new rental policy and price guide for the facility. Williams said changes are being made to the policy guide in order to streamline the rental process and avoid miscommunication, as staff have spent lengthy amounts of time going over rules and requirements with individual renters in the past.
As for the price guide, Williams said the prior pricing structure had not been updated since 2016 and had some extraneous fees that were no longer needed. He said the price structure has been simplified and prices have been reassessed to make sure the facility is “staying competitive in the market.”
After action is taken on these items, commissioners will hear the Fairgrounds/Expo monthly report. They will then consider approving bond renewal for Reserve Deputy Sheriff Steve Westbrook.
Commissioners will meet Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. at the Washington County Courthouse Annex.
