2020 RECAP: BRENHAM ISD SUPERINTENDENT DR. TYLOR CHAPLIN

With 2020 now in the rearview mirror, KWHI continues to speak with officials in Washington County to get their thoughts on how the year went and what their plans are for 2021.
Next is Brenham ISD Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin, who talked about 2020 as a whole and about how the year is going for the school district.
Dr. Chaplin applauded the work of students and staff in remaining flexible and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in schools as new health and safety protocols were established. He said their efforts allowed the district to keep schools open for in-person learning throughout the fall semester, something he is very proud of.
Dr. Chaplin said virtual learning proved to be a big challenge throughout the year, with much time spent on making sure both teachers and students had the resources they needed in a fast-changing environment.
As Brenham ISD students return to class tomorrow (Tuesday) after the winter break, Dr. Chaplin said it is important to take the experiences and lessons learned from 2020 and grow from them.
Dr. Chaplin officially started as Brenham ISD superintendent on September 1st, after being hired on August 11th and named as the lone finalist for the position on July 21st. He filled the position formerly held by Dr. Walter Jackson, who had served as Brenham ISD superintendent since 2015.
