DR. LOESCH: COVID-19 VACCINE DISTRIBUTION ‘MAKING PROGRESS’

As Phase 1A of the state’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution continues, Washington County’s Health Authority says the next phase of vaccinations should be coming “pretty soon.”
Dr. William Loesch says the state is “making progress” through the first phase of vaccinations, and that more vaccines should be arriving locally in the next few weeks to give to those included in Phase 1B. He says many of the people included in Phase 1A locally have received their first dose of the vaccine.
According to Dr. Loesch, the clinic and hospital staff at Baylor Scott and White in Brenham received their vaccines in College Station, so their numbers are not included in Washington County’s vaccination totals.
Dr. Loesch knows there are people who are concerned about the safety of the vaccines, and wants to reassure them that they are not harmful and do not give recipients the virus.
Dr. Loesch says there is an end in sight, and implored residents to stay the course as vaccines continue to roll out.
Dr. Loesch recommends calling and checking the websites of local pharmacies to see if they have vaccines and who they are being administered to. Update @ 2:15 p.m.: Both the Brookshire Brothers and H-E-B pharmacies in Brenham are not taking any more names on their waiting lists for vaccines until more are received.
