SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES TO START 2021
Taxing entities in Washington County opened up the new year with positive sales and tax distributions.
Washington County’s rebate in January was $249,553, up 6.86 percent from the county’s payment of $233,524 last January.
Brenham’s payment this month was $572,808, a 6.37 percent increase from the $538,477 the city received in January 2020.
Burton received $6,636, 2.05 percent more than last January, when the city received $6,502.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that the state sent out $783.2 million in local sales tax allocations this month, up 2.6 percent from what the state paid out in January 2020.
