Danny Watkins died January 12th at the age of 67.  Services were held today at First Baptist Church in Brenham.

Watkins worked for the Houston Fire Department for 34 years, serving as a firefighter and engineer before becoming a captain and eventually a district chief.

Watkins would go on to become the fire chief for the city of San Benito, in south Texas, in August of 2019.

Watkins was escorted to Brenham by members of the San Benito Honor Guard, San Benito Fire Department, Houston Fire Department, and Houston Firefighters Association.

San Benito City Manager Manuel De La Rosa called Watkins “a complete professional and a friend to us all.”  He said this is “a terrible loss” for the city’s fire department, all those who worked with him at the city, and the entire community.
