BRENHAM ISD TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR NAMED FINALIST FOR STATE AWARD
Brenham ISD’s Director of Information Technology has been named a finalist for a state award.
Kim Strauss has been nominated to receive the Texas Computer Education Association’s (TCEA) Technology Administrator of the Year Award. The TCEA’s Annual Educator Awards recognize excellence in the integration of technology in schools.
Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said during the pandemic, Strauss presented and implemented strategies and best practices to integrate technology into classrooms, campuses and libraries to ensure district-wide access for Brenham ISD students, teachers and families. He said Strauss, who has been with Brenham ISD for 19 years and handled the district’s technological needs for 12 years, is “an advocate for improving and advancing our technological goals.”
The TCEA presents awards known as Golden Apples to innovative and engaging technology administrators. In addition to being recognized, award finalists receive a cash prize of $500, while award recipients receive $1,000. All finalists and recipients also receive a commemorative plaque.
Strauss said being nominated for the award is “a big surprise and a great honor,” and shares the recognition with the entire technology team.
The award will be presented during the TCEA’s Annual Convention and Exposition in February.
