FRIDAY AFTERNOON ACCIDENT SHUTS DOWN EAST BOUND LANE OF U.S. 290

Several minor injuries were reported following a three-vehicle accident, Friday afternoon near Chappell Hill.

Authorities were called out just before 5:30 p.m. to the intersection of US Highway 290 East and Bluebonnet Boulevard, at the entrance to Bluebonnet Hills Subdivision.

Authorities say all drivers and passengers were out of the vehicles as they arrived at the scene.

The Chappell Hill Fire Department was called on to help mitigate a paint spill from the back of one of the vehicles involved.

Traffic in the east bound lane was shut down for about one hour.

  1. Why are there so many major accidents in Washington county?
No highway patrol on duty in our county to investigate the fatality accident on 290 Saturday morning, they have to get them from other counties, so that leaves the county without any traffic enforcement .
The sheriff department only has time to chase cows all over the county , people need to fix their fences.
We must get our priorities in order.

    1. Why are there so many accidents, is the question you can answer yourself with endless possibilities. What does that have to do with the number of law enforcement officers? Crashes are not dependent upon the number of officers.

When you figure that out, let them know

    2. drive on 290 and you will understand. folks drive crazy fast, there are DPS and County rides up and down between Brenham and Chappell Hill yet no body really slows down. it is almost like no one really cares until they get ticketed or have wreck, anything is brought up. Respect the rode and signs and no body should get hurt
