BLUEBONNET ELECTRIC: ROTATING OUTAGES EXPECTED TO LAST THROUGH MONDAY, POTENTIALLY INTO TUESDAY

Officials with Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative say members can continue to expect rotating power outages for several hours.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has instituted rolling outages across the state in order to reduce demand on the electric system.  ERCOT says rotating outages could be in place until the current weather emergency ends.

Bluebonnet Public Affairs Manager Will Holford said members can anticipate rotating outages through today (Monday) and possibly into tomorrow (Tuesday).

Thousands of Bluebonnet members have reported a loss of power due to the weather and the outages ordered by ERCOT.  Holford said the number of members at any time without power is constantly changing, but as many as 3,800 members in Washington County have reported an outage.

Holford said members who are in rotating outages will be without power for 20 to 30 minutes; outages that are 40 minutes or longer are said to be weather-related.

Bluebonnet members can report outages by calling 800-949-4414, by visiting www.bluebonnet.coop, or by using the co-op’s mobile app.

Thousands of members in the San Bernard Electric Cooperative, MidSouth Electric Co-op, College Station Utilities and Bryan Texas Utilities systems have also reported outages.

According to San Bernard Electric Cooperative, which has members in Austin, Colorado, Fayette, Grimes and Waller counties, substations in Hempstead have lost power from the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) transmission system.  Members in and around Hempstead are affected by this outage.
