BLUEBONNET: ERCOT POWER REGION CONDITIONS IMPROVING, STABILIZING
Representatives from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative say power levels continue to make headway toward returning to normal conditions.
Bluebonnet Public Affairs Manager Will Holford said conditions in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ (ERCOT) power region have improved and stabilized, and that warmer temperatures have helped reduce demand for electricity. Holford called this “the best news since this historic cold spell began.”
The cooperative was able to end rotating outages at about midnight Thursday, after ERCOT stopped requiring the cooperative to reduce energy demand.
Bluebonnet continues to watch grid conditions and will respond accordingly. Crews will respond to any weather-related outages that occur.
Bluebonnet thanks co-op members for their patience during this week and for showing support for its employees.
According to ERCOT, nearly 36,000 megawatts of generation remains on forced outage around the state as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Of that amount, approximately 21,400 megawatts are from thermal generation, while the rest is wind and solar.
