WINTER WEATHER DELAYS AND CLOSINGS

  

City of Brenham – city offices and departments will be closed through Friday.  The Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library and Blue Bell Aquatic Center will remain closed to the public until Monday.  The February 18^th City Council meeting has been rescheduled to February 25, 2021.  BVR has suspended sanitation services for the remainder of the week, and will resume normal operations Monday.  Excess bags around carts and dumpsters will be picked up as necessary.  Residents can bring recycling to the transfer station, with no charge.  BVR encourages sanitation customers to check their website www.bigcompany.com and Facebook page for details and updates.

Washington County - all county offices will be closed through Friday.  All public safety departments will provide services as needed.  County officials will have an update Sunday afternoon concerning operations for Monday.  Commissioners Court has been cancelled for this week, and a workshop Thursday has been cancelled.

Brenham ISD – in-person and remote learning has been cancelled for the rest of the week. Thursday’s board meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, February 22^nd.

Burton ISD – in-person and remote learning has been cancelled for the rest of the week.

Blinn College will close all campuses Friday.  All face-to-face and virtual classes are cancelled and services will be closed (Brenham Food Services will stay open).  All operations and classes, excluding health science clinicals, will take place virtually between Saturday, February 20^th and Friday, February 26^th.  The Spring second 4-week term, originally scheduled to begin on Monday, February 15th, will now begin Monday, February 22nd, and registration is extended through Sunday, February 21st. Add/drop dates for the second 4-week term will be February 22nd and 23rd. The last class day for that term will be March 22nd and final exams will take place March 23rd.

Margaret E. Blizzard Senior Activity Center – Homebound senior’s grocery deliveries will resume on Monday, February 22^nd and senior curbside grocery pickup will resume on Tuesday, February 23^rd.

The Washington County Fair Association has postponed commercial heifer tag-in until March 20^th.

Snook ISD –  closed through Friday.

First Baptist Church School in Brenham – school and early education center will be closed through Friday.

Christ Lutheran Day School in Brenham – closed through Friday.

Methodist Weekday Child Development Center in Brenham - closed Wednesday and Thursday.

Classes for Round Top-Carmine ISD are cancelled for the rest of the week due to weather and water damage on the elementary campus.  Plans are to reopen the campuses Monday morning.

Hempstead ISD - closed through Friday.

Christ Lutheran Day School in Brenham will be closed both Monday and Tuesday.

Navasota ISD – classes through Friday have been cancelled.

Iola ISD – closed through Friday.

Somerville ISD – closed through Friday.

Caldwell ISD – closed through Friday.

Bellville ISD – classes cancelled through Friday.

Sealy ISD – classes cancelled through Friday.

Salem Lutheran Church will not have in-person services Sunday due to water issues.  Services will be available on the church's Facebook page.

The Brenham FFA Chili drive-thru has been rescheduled to Wednesday February 24 from its original date of Tuesday, February 16.  Chili pickup will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Brenham High School Ag Building.

The Brenham Band Parents Pancake Supper drive-thru scheduled for February 19^th has been moved to February 26^th.  The drive-thru will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brenham High School.  Tickets are $8 and can be purchased by contacting Pam Knebel at 979-203-0781.

On Sunday, February 14, all City of Brenham park restrooms will be closed. Previously, prolonged freezing temperatures have caused the restroom plumbing, valves, and even fixtures to freeze, break, and shatter, leading to costly repairs.  To prevent these breakages, the park staff is winterizing sinks and toilets, which means the facilities must remain closed. Restrooms will reopen once the cold snap ends.  Residents are encouraged to visit the Brenham Parks and Rec and the City of Brenham Facebook pages for updates.

Republic Services will not run trash pickup in Navasota on Friday.  Please contact the City of Navasota with questions or concerns at (936)825-6475 or (936)825-6410 after 5:00 PM.

All Baylor Scott and White hospital's remain open.  Baylor Scott and White Clinic - Brenham Highway 290, Baylor Scott and White - The Brenham Clinic, and Baylor Scott and White - Hempstead will be closed Friday.  In-person appointments during this time are being rescheduled and virtual visits will remain unaffected.  Virtual care options are available at MyBSWHealth.com or on the MyBSWHealth app. To download, text BETTER to 88408.

The Manna mobile food pantry in Burton has been cancelled on Friday.  Residents can call the Burton Bridge Ministry at 979-337-3370 for information and food assistance.

Burton Bridge Ministry has cancelled its next Lunch-and-Learn class on Wednesday, February 24.

American Legion Post 48 in Brenham – meetings February 18-25 have been postponed.

Sealy Mattress Company - production for both shifts Friday has been cancelled.

Burton State Bank - closed until road conditions improve.

Bank of Brenham - open Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. lobby, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. drive-thru

Brenham National Bank – all locations will be open for drive thru only from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Friday.

Citizens State Bank – normal hours of 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, drive-thru only.

The Chili When It's Chilly Cook-off scheduled for this weekend in Waller has been moved to March 5-6.
