BURTON WINS GIRLS DISTRICT BOWLING TITLE
This week the Burton and Bellville girls bowling teams squared off two times, with Burton winning both matches defeating Bellville 9-6 both days.
Tuesday, Burton took a 5-2 lead in the Singles portion, but still needed to win 2 of 3 from Bellville in the team format. Bellville won the first game in convincing fashion with Burton winning the second game. The winner of the third game would win the match. It all came down to the 9th and 10 frames. Burton bowlers Olivia Flores and Sabrina Burke were able to strike and spare and defeated Bellville by 5 pins. For Bellville, Rileigh Dinges bowled games of 112 and 129 to pace her squad. Mickayella Perez also bowled both games over 100 and won her match. Emery Beamon and Jillian Edwards also bowled games over 100.
On Wednesday, the match again came down to the team portion. Bellville won 2 of 3 from Burton but fell short 9-6 in the match. The deciding game in the team format was won by Burton by only 6 pins. For Bellville, Sabrina Burke bowled an outstanding 177 to lead all bowlers. Kelsey Fehrle had the next high game at 133, while Olivia Flores had a high game of 127. Karime Ortiz and Kristin Dyess each had games over 100. For Bellville, Emery Beamon bowled games of 102 and 107 while Rileigh Dinges and Tannah Rutledge also had games over 100.
Burton now moves on to Regionals March 28-29 in Conroe.
The regular season comes to an end next week when Brenham takes on Bellville.
