BUC MEN FALL TO COASTAL BEND, 87-84
Braelon Seals scores season-high 11 points
BEEVILLE, Texas — The Blinn College men’s basketball team fell to Coastal Bend College, 87-84, on the road Saturday night.
With the loss, the Buccaneers now hold an overall record of 7-4 and conference record of 5-4.
“We had an open look at the 3-point shot with six seconds to tie it up, but missed it,” head coach Scott Schumacher said. “We got the rebound, got fouled, and made two out of three free throws. We have to stick together, get through it, and figure out why we were successful and all of a sudden haven’t been able to pull some games out.”
Davion Coleman scored a team-high 17 points, Calvin Carpenter racked up 14, Braelon Seals tallied a season-high 11, and Bonke Maring scored 10.
Coastal Bend and Blinn played a close game throughout its entirety, but the Cougars pulled ahead 49-45 at the break. The Buccaneers and Cougars continued to play a close game throughout the second half. Blinn had a chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer in the final seconds, but missed it, however got the rebound and was fouled. The Buccaneers made two free throws with 3.6 seconds to go to cut Coastal Bend’s lead down to one, but the Cougars were able to finish the game with a 2-0 run at the free throw line to win by three.
Next, the Buccaneers will face off against Paris Junior College on Wednesday, March 10, at 7 p.m. on the road.
