BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO DISCUSS COVID-19 DISASTER DECLARATION

The Brenham City Council will address the city’s COVID-19 disaster declaration at its meeting Thursday.

Following Governor Greg Abbott’s order lifting COVID-19 restrictions and mask requirements, which takes effect tomorrow (Wednesday), the council will discuss the city’s current mayoral declaration, any potential revisions to it, and the possibility of rescinding it in its entirety.

Any possible action will be as discussed by the council, as city staff are not recommending a particular action be taken.

In other items Thursday, the council will hold a workshop to hear the Brenham Police Department’s 2020 annual report and racial profiling report.

Councilmembers will also meet in executive session for utility competitive matters, discussing a gas sales contract between the city and WTG Gas Marketing, Inc.

The council will also consider:

  • A bid related to the annual generator maintenance and inspection contract for various city facilities.
  • A resolution for the awarding of grant administration and/or planning services for qualified projects for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for Rural Texas through the Texas Department of Agriculture.
  • A resolution for the awarding of engineering/architecture/surveying services for qualified projects for the CDBG program.
  • An electronic payment processing agreement between the city and VeriCheck, Inc. for services related to the electronic payment and collection of Hotel Occupancy Taxes.

The council will meet Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Brenham City Hall.
