subHUB TO ADMINISTER 3,000 FIRST VACCINE DOSES TUESDAY; NO SECOND DOSES WEDNESDAY

Another round of COVID-19 vaccines is headed to the Regional Vaccination subHUB at the Washington County Expo for next week, but only for Tuesday.

Healthcare workers prepare to administer a COVID-19 vaccine at the Washington County Expo Center.

The subHUB will administer approximately 3,000 first doses on Tuesday, but no second doses will go out on Wednesday.  This is because, according to subHUB officials, no first dose vaccinations were held at this time last month because of the winter storm.

Vaccinations will begin at 6 a.m. on Tuesday.  Citizens are asked to bring a form of ID and a completed consent form.  Consent forms are available at www.localevent.info, and can also be picked up at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.

Beginning Monday, Texans between 50 and 64 will be eligible to get vaccinated as part of Phase 1C of the Texas Department of State Health Services’ (DSHS) vaccine distribution plan.

Residents can sign up for their first vaccine dose at the subHUB by visiting https://wacounty.saferestart.net.

Officials at the subHUB say now that vaccine shipments have become consistent, first doses will continue to be administered on Tuesdays and second doses on Wednesdays.  Second doses will be done 29 days from the date of the first dose; a resident can count 29 days from the date of their first dose on a Tuesday to determine the date of their second on a Wednesday.

An automated message will go out if this schedule changes or if shipments are delayed.  Residents will also continue to get automated messages reminding them of their first and second dose appointments.
