EMERGENCY BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL MEETING TO DISCUSS GAS BILL FROM WINTER STORM

The Brenham City Council will hold an emergency meeting today (Thursday) to discuss the estimated bill from its gas provider for the days during Texas’ arctic blast in February.

The council will meet in executive session to discuss the available options as they relate to the city’s gas supply contract with WTG Gas Marketing, Inc. and future operations.  Any action taken will be done in open session.

Brenham is one of many other cities facing enormous gas and utility bills following the winter storm.

City Manager James Fisher said the city has a “solid gas supply contract that protects us from situations like this,” and assured that the city’s goal is to protect its customers and the city’s financial integrity.

The council will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Brenham City Hall.
