WASHINGTON CO. SHERIFF APPEALS TO CITIZENS IN FIGHT AGAINST CRIME
Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak invites local citizens to build a stronger partnership with law enforcement officials in the fight against crime.

Hanak announced today (Friday) that membership appeals will go out in the mail shortly for citizens to become Associate Members of the Sheriffs’ Association of Texas. The voluntary membership program was formed to provide citizens with an opportunity to lend their support to more effective law enforcement and to help local officers protect the lives and property of citizens.
Hanak said as the need for building stronger public-private law enforcement partnerships in this country continues to grow, programs like this also grow in importance. He encouraged citizens to consider becoming Associate Members, calling it “a valuable investment in the future.”
Individuals choosing to join the program can do so starting at $25, while businesses can begin their contribution at $100. Contributions are tax-deductible, and the program does not solicit membership by telephone, only sending invitations via mail.
Hanak said with government funding becoming increasingly difficult to obtain, the funding from the membership drive has taken on great importance, providing resources, training and legislative support on key criminal justice issues.
