DPS TROOPER REMAINS IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING SHOOTING IN CENTRAL TEXAS

A Texas DPS Trooper remains in critical condition at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco after being shot multiple times Friday night near Mexia.
According to the Texas DPS Officers Association, Trooper Chad Walker was shot in the head and abdomen after responding to a motorist assist call at FM 2848 and Highway 84 in Limestone County.
The accused shooter, 36-year-old DeArthur Pinson, Jr., fled the scene after the shooting. After authorities searched for several hours, they discovered his body at a home west of Mexia with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

A GoFundMe was started to help Walker and his family raise money for medical and travel expenses. The fundraiser page says he and his family “have a long road of recovery ahead of them.”
Walker and his wife, according to the GoFundMe page, have a 15-year-old son, twin seven-year-old daughters, and a two-month-old daughter.
