BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD TO POTENTIALLY NAME NEW JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
The Brenham School Board may name a new principal for Brenham Junior High School at its meeting Monday.
An executive session is scheduled for trustees to discuss the matter before potentially approving a new principal.
Superintendent Dr. Tylor Chaplin said at the board’s meeting March 11th that Brenham ISD had received 25 applications for the position, which was vacated following the sudden dismissal of previous principal Bryan Bryant in December. Dr. Chaplin said at the time that the new principal would have a tentative start date of June 1st.
Shortly after Bryant was dismissed, the district chose Diana Werner, a retired principal from Bryan ISD, to serve in the position for the spring semester.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the board will consider approval of a high school equivalency program in the district. Trustees will also discuss plans for 2021 summer school and hear program updates on STEAM, CSI and CARS.
The board will also consider a joint election agreement between the school district, the City of Brenham and Washington County for the May 1st trustee election. In addition, it will vote on approving an out of state trip for the Marine Corps Junior ROTC to travel to St. Louis, Missouri for the National Championship Drill Meet May 6-9.
The board will meet Monday at noon at the Brenham ISD Administration Office. The meeting will be livestreamed on Brenham ISD’s YouTube channel.
Highly hoping the school board makes a good decision. That school is in great need of a strong LEADER. Not a warden, not a daycare manager, a true LEADER to inspire students and teachers alike and turn that campus around on all fronts.
We totally agree and have for some time. Since our campus leaders are accountable to & often must voice the sentiments of the School Board; perhaps, the best decision would be to replace the School Board with individuals who have demonstrated the ability to “think outside of the box”. All of our children are capable of learning when placed in an environment that inspires learning. All of my children and grandchildren attended private Christian daycare school until they were “ready” for public school. By then they were so far advanced in core subjects that they were often the “de facto” teachers in the room. We cannot make a happy marriage out of “old thought principles” and “new technologies”. Any parent devoted to the success of their children should be able to take advantage of the triad of school, Church and community in creating a learning environment for their children that is proactively productive. Our school system is a JOKE! Even with top heavy, highly over paid administrative professionals we are getting shortchanged on the financial investment for the education of our children. Sad!
