A traffic stop Friday morning near Flatonia led to the discovery of over $300,000 in meth and marijuana.

Around 10 a.m., Fayette County Drug Interdiction Sergeant Randy Thumann and K-9 Kolt stopped a 2004 Lexus driving westbound on I-10 near the 661 mile marker for a traffic violation.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says the driver, 25-year-old Alexander William Gil of San Antonio, had no driver’s license and showed nervous behavior.  Sgt. Thumann received consent to search the vehicle, and three other occupants of the vehicle were asked to get out.

Sgt. Thumann found a speaker in the trunk of the vehicle which was loaded with 6 kilos of methamphetamines and 1 pound of “hydro marijuana,” with a total street value of $304,000.

Gil admitted the drugs were his and was taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center, where he was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Marijuana.  The other occupants were released from the scene.
