DPS WELCOMES NEW PIO FOR BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION REGION

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has a new Public Information Officer for the Brazos Valley.
Sergeant Justin Ruiz takes the position after working in Caldwell for about seven years. He fills the role formerly held by Sgt. Jimmy Morgan, who retired in August after over 31 years with DPS.
As Public Information Officer for the DPS-Bryan District, Sgt. Ruiz will relay information to news media on major events involving DPS, such as major car accidents and fatalities.
Sgt. Ruiz says he has quickly become a fan of the Bryan-College Station region.
Sgt. Ruiz attended George Bush High School in Fort Bend ISD and served in the U.S. Army for four years. He took college courses while in the U.S. Army, and obtained a Criminal Justice degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He was a member of DPS’ June 2014 graduating class.
Sgt. Ruiz will also appear as a guest on KWHI’s bi-weekly “Safety Talk” program, which covers traffic, criminal laws, and highway safety in Texas. The program can be heard every other Thursday morning beginning around 9:05 a.m. on KWHI AM 1280, FM 101.7, and kwhi.com.
That’s a good job you’re performing for the DPS, nephew keep up the good work. God’s blessing be upon you and all of the DPS troopers.
