WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS HEAR UPDATE ON subHUB, VACCINATIONS

Washington County Commissioners received an update on the status of COVID-19 vaccinations at the Regional Vaccination subHUB at their meeting today (Tuesday).
During his monthly report, Emergency Management Coordinator Bryan Ruemke reminded commissioners that next Wednesday, May 5th will be the last day that the subHUB, located at the Washington County Expo, will provide doses of the vaccine. The subHUB discontinued first doses earlier this month, but second doses will continue through next Wednesday.
Ruemke said vaccines are still widely available in the area, but some providers are having issues with declining demand.
After the conclusion of vaccine distribution at the subHUB, officials will clear the barricades, cones and tents from the Expo grounds.
Ruemke noted that, since more vaccine doses are now available, vaccine recipients no longer have to go back to the location that they received their first dose to get their second dose. He said anyone getting their second dose still needs to make sure they are getting the same type of vaccine as they received during their first dose.
As of today, the subHUB has administered 56,218 total vaccine doses, including 31,037 first doses and 25,181 second doses.
Also at today’s meeting, commissioners approved a resolution for the Washington County District Attorney’s Office to apply for the Other Victim’s Assistance Grant for state Fiscal Years 2022-24. Washington County District Attorney Julie Renken explained that the grant program pays the absolute substantial amount of the victim service coordinator’s salary.
