TEXAS CZECH HERITAGE & CULTURAL CENTER TO HOST SLAVNOST SUNDAY
The Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center in La Grange will feature a full day of activities in celebration of Czech heritage this weekend at the 19th Annual Slavnost.
Sunday’s festival will open with a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. to pay tribute to all Czech-Texas immigrants. The ceremony will be followed by a fried chicken meal, with serving starting at 11:30 a.m. at $10 per person.
Visitors can also look forward to music from Mark Halata & Texavia from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., a traditional May Pole dance at 1:30 p.m., and demonstrations at the Zapalač Saw Mill and Czech Newspaper Museum at 2 p.m.
There will also be tours of the Czech Village, a classic car show, and shopping opportunities.
