CITY OF BRENHAM TO CELEBRATE KIDS TO PARKS DAY SATURDAY

The City of Brenham invites children and their families to get out and visit their local parks this weekend for Kids to Parks Day.

Fireman’s Park and Henderson Park will host a day of family friendly activities tomorrow (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community Services Specialist Crystal Locke says the event is a national effort to bring youth closer to public parks.

The day begins at 9 a.m. at Fireman’s Park, with local skateboard experts discussing safety and the basics for skateboards and bikes.

Activities at Fireman’s Park continue at 10:15 a.m. with a kids’ disc golf demo with Cameron Crawford, followed by family fitness with Michelle Rigsby at 11:30 a.m.

At noon, events will move over to the splash pad at Henderson Park with a water safety demo, featuring staff from the Blue Bell Aquatic Center.  Families can then enjoy playing at the splash pad until 2 p.m.

Locke says with this event, residents are given a better idea of what their local parks have to offer.
