SLAVNOST SUNDAY AT TEXAS CZECH HERITAGE & CULTURAL CENTER
Czech heritage will be celebrated tomorrow (Sunday) in La Grange at the 19th Annual Slavnost.
A full day of activities is in store at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center’s annual “May Fest.”
Mark Hermes, manager of the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, says this festival is of historical significance to the center.
The festival will open with a ceremony at 10:30 a.m. to pay tribute to all Czech-Texas immigrants. The ceremony will be followed by a fried chicken meal, with serving beginning at 11:30 a.m. at $10 per person.
Mark Halata and Texavia will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a traditional May Pole dance at 1:30 p.m., along with demonstrations at the Zapalač Saw Mill and Czech Newspaper Museum at 2 p.m.
Guests will also have shopping opportunities, and there will be a classic car show and tours of the Czech Village.
