Somerville High School will have a new principal this fall.

Rev. Derron Robinson was recently selected by Somerville ISD for the position, following the resignation of Jennifer Wood.

Robinson began his career in education in 2011 teaching at Anson Jones Elementary School in Bryan, before becoming an instructional coach and the dean of students for middle school in Hearne ISD.  He has served as an assistant principal at Rudder High School in Bryan ISD since 2017.

Robinson received his Bachelor of Science degree from Prairie View A&M University in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Reading and Language Arts in May 2006.  He received his Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in May 2017.

Robinson was honored by the Brazos Valley African American Museum for community impact during its 2021 Appreciation Banquet on March 27th.

Robinson was chosen out of over 20 applicants for the position.  He will start his new position in July.
