AREA SCHOOLS MAKING CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR GRADUATION

  

Update 1:30 PM Friday:  Burton High School graduation has been moved to the High School Gymnasium due to possible rain in the area tonight.  It is still scheduled for 8:00 tonight.

Potential inclement weather is causing many local school districts to consider changes to their high school graduation ceremonies this weekend.

Brenham High School’s graduation is planned for tomorrow (Saturday) at 8 p.m. at Cub Stadium.  Brenham ISD officials say the ceremony will be delayed if there is bad weather, but it will still be held once the weather passes.  However, if the rain continues or if the weather is too severe, then it will be postponed to Sunday at a time to be determined.  The ceremony will remain at the stadium, and will not be moved indoors.

Burton High School is planning to hold its graduation ceremony tonight (Friday) at 8 p.m. at the High School Gymnasium Panther StadiumBurton ISD has not yet indicated what its contingency plan will be in the event of severe weather.

Bellville High School’s graduation is set for tonight at 8 p.m. at Brahma Stadium.  Bellville ISD said it continues to monitor weather conditions, and will make a decision about tonight’s ceremony no later than 6 p.m.  If the ceremony is rescheduled, it will take place at the stadium tomorrow night at 8 p.m.

Caldwell High School’s graduation at 8 p.m. tonight is planned to take place at Hornet Stadium, but will be moved to the high school gym if needed.

Giddings High School has moved tonight’s commencement exercises back because of the weather.  They will now take place tomorrow night at 8 p.m. at Buffalo Stadium.

Navasota ISD has moved tonight’s high school graduation at Rattler Stadium up an hour to 7 p.m.  The ceremony will be held once the rain or storms have passed, but if they continue, then the ceremony will be moved to tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.

Somerville High School has moved its graduation from the football stadium to the high school gym.  It will still be held tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
