ONE DEAD, FIVE CRITICALLY INJURED IN PLANE CRASH IN MADISONVILLE

Madisonville police say one person is dead and five others are critically injured after a plane crash early this (Monday) morning.

According to Madisonville Police Chief Herbert Gilbert, officers responded around 1 a.m. to a report of a single-engine plane crashing at the Madisonville Municipal Airport.

According to Gilbert, investigators found that the plane crashed about 200 yards short of the runway.

The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene, while five passengers were airlifted to area hospitals in critical condition.

The plane was identified as a Piper PA32-260 Cherokee Six.

Gilbert said investigation has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
