A nine-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps has announced his intent to run for Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace for Washington County.

Daniel McCarthy is running for the position formerly held by Ken Tofel, who retired on June 4th.  McCarthy and his wife, Caitlin, both served in the Marine Corps before moving to Brenham in 2012 from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

McCarthy, who is running as a Republican, said he is a firm believer in family values.

McCarthy believes, with his past experience in the Marine Corps and in the Justice of the Peace and County Attorney’s offices, that he is uniquely qualified for this role.

All four Justice of the Peace positions are up for election next year.  The primary elections will be held on March 1, 2022.

  1. Doesn’t say what he has been employed at since coming here to Brenham in 2012.

    1. I have worked in both the Washington County Attorney’s office and the Justice of the Peace office as a legal aid. I’m a Chief inspector and project manager for Northern Natural gas currently. If you have any questions, I would love to answer them for you.

  2. You will not find a more qualified candidate than Daniel! He will put his heart and soul into this position, that I can tell you for sure. Great guy! Best of luck Daniel!
