BURTON BRIDGE MINISTRY TO HOLD COMMUNITY OUTREACH FAIR FRIDAY

Washington County residents are invited tomorrow (Friday) to a Community Outreach Fair hosted by the Burton Bridge Ministry.

The fair, which will be held at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Burton, will present information about the Texas Rent Relief Program, hurricane preparedness, free counseling services, no-cost telephone captioning, educational services for migrant children, and free Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for those age 12 and older.

The Brazos County Health District will bring its Brazos Valley Mobile Action Team to administer vaccines from 8 to 10 a.m. in the outdoor garden area.

Representatives from Texans Recovering Together will be available from 8:45 to 10 a.m. with information about rent relief, hurricanes, and free counseling services that can assist with housing, transportation, job and legal aid, and individual crisis counseling.

In partnership with the Brazos Valley Food Bank, the ministry will distribute food from 10 a.m. to noon, or until food runs out, in the church parking lot.  Any qualifying resident of Washington County may drive through for food assistance.

Senior citizens will be attending the ministry’s senior meals program inside the Family Life Center.  Games and fellowship begin at 10 a.m., with Bingo at 11 a.m. and a meal served at noon.  Lunch reservations are requested by the Tuesday prior, and the suggested donation is $4.

The ministry will also share handouts from the Region 6 Migrant Education Team, which provides supplemental services that encourage educational opportunities for migrant students and their families.

In addition, the ministry will have information about telephone captioning from CaptionCall, a phone caption service for people with hearing loss.

Vaccine reservations are requested but not required.  To RSVP, contact the Burton Bridge Ministry at burtonbridgeministry@gmail.com or 979-337-3370, or LaToya Taylor at ltaylor@brazoscountytx.gov or 979-361-5747.
