CITY COUNCIL TO CONTINUE BUDGET DISCUSSIONS, WEDNESDAY
The Brenham City Council will meet in special meeting this coming week to continue work on the upcoming budget.
The council will discuss the budget for fiscal 2021-22.
Last week, City Manager James Fischer told the council that an overall two-cent decrease in property taxes is expected in the coming year.
Fisher told the council last week, the city is having to allocate more funds for repairs to the Lake Somerville intake structure repair after FEMA has delayed providing money it approved for the repairs. This has caused a 2-cent increase in utility rates, which is offset by a 4-cent reduction in the electric fund for the overall decrease.
Also at Wednesday’s meeting, the council is expected to approve application for funds from the American Rescue Plan Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund.
The City Council meets Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Nancy Carol Roberts Memorial Library.
