Texas’ annual sales tax holiday gets underway in less than two weeks.

The tax-free weekend is set for Friday through Sunday, August 6-8, and exempts sales tax on qualified items priced below $100, including items like clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar says the holiday saves shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend, and estimates this year’s holiday will save shoppers $107.3 million in state and local sales tax.

Apparel and school supplies that can be purchased tax-free are listed on the Comptroller’s website, TexasTaxHoliday.org.

Texas’ sales tax holiday weekend has been an annual event since 1999.
