BRENHAM POLICE ARREST TWO AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT ON HIGHWAY 290

Two Travis County men were arrested in Brenham Saturday night after a high-speed chase along Highway 290.
At around 8:15 p.m., Brenham police attempted to stop a vehicle in the 7000 block of Highway 290 West, near Grand Oaks Lane. The vehicle did not stop, leading authorities on a chase that police say reached speeds of nearly 120 mph.
Officers deployed spikes that deflated the rear tire on the driver’s side. The pursuit ended in the 3300 block of Highway 290 East, near Wonder Hill Road.
The driver, 18-year-old Brandon Owens of Pflugerville, was arrested for Evading Arrest/Detention in a Motor Vehicle. A passenger, 19-year-old Edward Johnson of Austin, was charged with Possession of Marijuana under 2 oz.
