BLUE BELL AQUATIC CENTER POOLS TO CLOSE THROUGHOUT SEPTEMBER

The Blue Bell Aquatic Center pools will be closed during the month of September for several maintenance projects.

The pools will be closed from Monday, September 6th through Sunday, October 3rd.  Staff will still operate PARK Central Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aquatic Superintendent Tammy Jaster says the facility normally closes one week a year for cleaning and updates, but some bigger projects required a longer closure.

During the closure, staff will replaster the competition pool for the first time since 2013.  The competition pool steel beams will also be cleaned, repaired and painted for the first time since the facility was opened in 2001.  Staff will also patch an issue with the therapy pool and install new handicap chair lifts.

The projects were budgeted in the 2020-21 Fiscal Year at $101,000.  Progressive Commercial Aquatics will replaster the competition pool, while CR Systems will handle the steel beams.

Additional projects planned for next month include a deep cleaning of the entire facility, updating computer systems and time clocks, winterizing the leisure pool, and other needed maintenance or repairs.

This week marks the last week of summer hours at the Aquatic Center.

  1. I was reading some of the other comments on here and I’ve come to the conclusion the Blue Bell Aquatics Center is the community pool for Brenham.

  2. Has there ever been a discussion for a community pool to be built for Brenham ?

    It really is needed.

    1. BBAC is a community pool. Most you pay for admission regardless.

The only free thing I know of water related is the splash pad.

    2. The Blue Bell Aquatic Center IS the community pool for Brenham. It replaced the old Brenham city pool that was in the area near the current volleyball area between the library and Fireman’s Park.

    3. We had a fabulous pool behind the library. 1.25 enternce fee. We would bring drinks and sandwich’s and have so much fun. They decided to build the big
“Pee-pee” pool and filled it in with dirt. Now we have a lifeguards nightmare with corners a child could get hurt. And pay an outrages fee for any class. Not to mention the competition pool is a foot shorter than it should be. Another Brenham mess up.
