BRENHAM SCHOOL BOARD EXPECTED TO APPROVE TAX RATE MONDAY

The Brenham School board is expected to approve the upcoming budget and tax rate, when they meet Monday night, just two days prior to the opening of classes for the new school year.

The board will hold a public hearing for the 2021-22 budget and tax rate.

The rate is expected to decrease from the current rate of $1.04 per hundred dollars valuation to just under 99-cents.  Many, however, will pay higher or equivalent taxes due to rising property valuations.

The public hearing will then be followed by a board vote, where the members are expected to approve the rate.

A COVID-19 update is also on the agenda.  The district announced its COVID-19 procedures on Aug. 10.

Also on Monday’s agenda:

  • Updates to the HVAC at the Brenham Junior High School English wing.
  • Review of the 2021-22 student handbook.
  • Possible approval of bids for district fuel for the 2021-22 school year.

The BISD Board of Trustees will meet Monday at 6 p.m. at Brenham High School.
