FAYETTE CO. MURDER SUSPECT SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON

The suspect in a 2017 murder in Fayette County has been sentenced to life in prison.
A Fayette County Jury on Thursday found Dylan David Nelson guilty of the murder of La Grange resident Jeremy Cornwell. On Friday, he was given a life sentence and ordered to pay a $10,000 fine.
Cornwell was shot and killed at his home on Creamer Creek Road near La Grange on July 5, 2017. His body was discovered the next day with several gunshot wounds.
The jury took less than an hour to return a guilty verdict and 30 minutes to decide upon a life sentence.
The case was investigated by the Texas Rangers and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and was prosecuted by County Attorney Peggy Supak and Assistant County Attorney James Herbrich with the assistance of Natalie Tise of the State Attorney General’s Office. Nelson was represented by local attorney Richard Halpain.
