HANAK ENDORSES GEORGE P. BUSH FOR TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL
Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak is throwing his support behind a challenger in the 2022 race for Texas attorney general.
Hanak is endorsing Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush, who is one of six candidates thus far for the attorney general position currently held by Ken Paxton.
In his endorsement, Hanak said Bush’s “leadership and values will undoubtedly bring back the integrity and respect that the attorney general’s office requires.”
Bush said he was “humbled” to receive Hanak’s endorsement and that Hanak “knows what it takes to protect Texas.”
Prior to becoming the sheriff of Washington County in 2013, Hanak served on the executive security-protective detail for the presidential campaign of George W. Bush, who is the uncle of George P. Bush.
Republican candidates in the race for Texas attorney general so far include Bush, Paxton, former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman and District 93 House Representative Matt Krause. Democratic candidates include trial attorney and former Galveston mayor Joe Jaworski and civil rights attorney Lee Merritt.
