(Hempstead Police Dept.)

The Hempstead Police Department has arrested a suspect in connection to a double shooting last week.

44-year-old Eugene Singleton Jr. was placed in custody by Hempstead police around 3 p.m. Tuesday, with assistance of the U.S. Marshalls and Houston Police Department.

Singleton was booked into the Waller County Jail for outstanding felony warrants stemming from the shooting on October 6th.

Police responded around 8 p.m. on October 6th to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Donoho Street.  There, police found a 45-year-old woman with a gunshot wound.

Officers then responded to the 1800 block of 3rd Street and found a 16-year-old female who had also been shot.

Both victims were flown to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.  Authorities at the time believed they were both shot during the same incident by the same person.  Singleton was subsequently identified as a person of interest.
