LLOYD SAUNDERS MEMORIAL COOK-OFF SATURDAY AT WASHINGTON CO. EXPO
The Lloyd Saunders Memorial Cook-off is set to bring food, music and fun to the Washington County Expo.
Tomorrow’s (Saturday) all-day event will feature competitions for chili, beans, chef’s choice, Bloody Marys and margaritas. There will also be a free dance after the competitions, along with a cornhole toss and live and silent auctions.
Volunteer Kathy Randermann says the event is one the whole family can enjoy.
Participants can sign up until the first turn-in time of 11 a.m. for Bloody Marys. Judging will be held at 12:30 p.m. for chef’s choice, 1:30 p.m. for margaritas, 2:30 p.m. for beans and 4 p.m. for chili. Entry is $20 per category, and cash prizes will be presented to the top contestants.
Proceeds from the cook-off benefit the Lloyd Saunders Memorial Scholarship, founded in honor and memory of Lloyd Saunders in 2008. Barbara Saunders, the widow of Lloyd, says the scholarship fund benefits local youth.
