Thank God it didn’t pass in Bellville, with everything else going up, I can’t afford to retire, I haven’t had a child in the Bellville ISD in 20 years, but I sure do have to pay for it. I spoke to an elderly citizen today, she told me, if it passed she would have to move…she has been here for 92 years.
My family moved to Bellville thirty + years ago from Houston. This was the best idea ever. As a Mama, feel blessed to be in Bellville. Bellville ISD is one of the best in our great state of Texas. Our students, teachers, staff, administrators are amazing. Safety first.
Idiot,
I am also on a fixed income and I budget my money, we set aside $500 to support Burton organizations. Part of my budget is to include organizations , such as the Burton Fire Department, Burton FFA, VFW, ,Burton Parks Project and the Burton Bridge Ministry. With the increase of taxes, ,I will no longer support these groups with my funds because of the difference in the cost of the bond . We also like to patronize the White Horse Tavern and Burton Short Stop and Los Patronnes, but with your suggestion we will not be able to because we have to sacrifice these pleasure Can’t have the two beers and the take out lunch , Luckily I don’t smoke,
You are so correct Eileen Cook. It is so sad.

Thank you for voting YES for our kids! The future looks bright.
I cant afford the tax increase to build a football stadium
over 300 dollars a year on fixed income
all the idiots that voted for this should be the only ones to lay for it
I’m sorry that you feel 485 of us are idiots when you are the one who thinks this bond is only a football stadium. Maybe you should have attended informational meetings and read the pamphlet with an open mind instead of name calling. I’m pretty sure you can find some way to save $6 a week. Two fewer beers, one less pack of cigarettes, one less take out meal, if you get my point. Bonds are one of those things, like Social Security, where you may not receive a direct benefit now or possibly ever but you pay for it at the moment. Life is not fair or equal.
Go Panthers!
Kudos to Robert.
485 got hoodwinked with a slogan.
They could not see that the whole thing was an elaborate manipulation of the Robin Hood Law:
Bring in 119 non-paying transfer students so that it creates an overcrowding crisis;
withhold repairs and maintenance on the facilities to further complete the ruse.
Beware!
The architectual drawings are renditions that are subject to change. One thing for sure is that the sports facilities will prevail if there are any kind of funding shortfalls at the expense of the meager eight planned classrooms.
On top of everything, $43M is entrusted in a district that performs “clerical errors”.
The only thing about this that is “for the kids” is the heartbreak to the boy because of professional incompetence.
That incompetence will be rewarded with a 900 seat stadium.
To call a small rural high school football field a “stadium” is excessive and obnoxious.
We have been snookered.
As bad as it is for for folks on fixed incomes, think about that vacation you will sacrifice because you are young enough to see your tax burden increase over the next 30 years.
And that’s not including the additional bonds to fund the replacements to the football artificial turf.
But, now that we have it, we better keep a close eye on its progress, lest we need another bond to remedy the lack of foresight that prompted this bond.
How very sad for Bellville’s future and the future of its children. This was a time to be unselfish.
