BLUEBONNET WARNS OF INCREASED PHONE SCAMS

Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative says its members have reported a recent increase in attempted phone scams.

According to the cooperative, utility customers see a surge in scam phone calls each year, especially around the holidays.  The co-op says the fraudulent live callers claim to represent Bluebonnet and tell members their power will be disconnected unless they make an immediate payment over the phone.

Members who are contacted in this manner should not pay or provide the caller with any personal or account information.

Bluebonnet makes at least two attempts to remind its members with delinquent accounts – once by mail and again by courtesy phone call – within 10 days after their payment’s due date.

Bluebonnet members can check their account status through the co-op’s website, www.bluebonnet.coop, as well as through the co-op’s mobile app or by calling 800-842-7708.
