COLLEGE STATION MAN LEADS OFFICERS ON HIS SECOND HIGH SPEED CHASE OF THE YEAR

Suspect arrested after crashing stolen car

Matthew Jarrett (Madison County Sheriff's Office)

A College Station man suspected in a series of Post Office break-ins is back behind bars after leading authorities on his second multi-county car chase of the year.

Deputies with Madison County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop 34 year old Matthew Jarrett, who was driving in a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Waller County on Tuesday, but Jarrett decided to take off.

The chase, which reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour, finally ended in Brazos County on North Woodville Road near Texas Avenue. Authorities say Jarrett lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

Jarrett was arrested at the scene. Officers also found mail in the car that did not belong to him. Jarrett is suspected of Post Office burglaries in North Zulch, Flynn, and Marquez.

Jarrett had a prior arrest after leading authorities on another chase that occurred back on June 12 that started in Grimes County and ended in Brazos County.

  1. I thought theft of mail is a federal crime. Why is this person not in prison? Maybe the next time if he causes the death of someone in a high speed chase help be put away.

  2. Who lets someone like Jarrett out on bond? We need to start holding the Justice system accountable as well as the criminals. Stolen car, stolen mail, high speed chase and was out on bond. Stop the stupid please.
