BRENHAM POLICE OFFER SAFETY TIPS FOR NEW YEAR’S EVE
New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, but there are several things residents should keep in mind so they can celebrate safely.
Brenham Police Sergeant Steven Eilert offered several tips Tuesday on the KWHI Community Corner, ranging from safety on the roads to possession of fireworks.
Sgt. Eilert said anyone who is planning on enjoying adult beverages tonight (Friday) should make sure to get a designated driver or arrange for a sober ride home.
Sgt. Eilert reminded drivers to be cautious on the roads, as there should be increased traffic during this holiday weekend.
Sgt. Eilert also strongly discouraged anyone from discharging firearms.
As a reminder, Brenham city ordinance prohibits the possession, discharging, transportation, storing, sale or presence of any fireworks within the city or its territorial jurisdiction, which extends outside city limits for 5,000 feet.
In case of an emergency, residents should call 911. For non-emergencies, residents can call the non-emergency dispatch number at 979-277-7373.
