BRENHAM MAIN STREET BOARD WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS, NAMES OFFICERS

The Brenham Main Street Board introduced two new members and elected its 2022 officers at its meeting Monday.

Wendy Meaux and Pete Simpson were welcomed onto the 11-member board, which also named Margie Young as this year’s board chair and Tiffany McMordie-Morisak as vice-chair.

The board also elected Tom Whitehead and Jon Hill as the two board members to serve on the executive committee.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the board approved moving $10,000 from the Downtown Improvement Fund, which consists of money raised from Main Street events, to the Incentive Grant Fund for downtown façade and building improvements.  Funds are set aside into the grant program each January if they are available.

Board members also received an update on the final preparations leading up to Saturday’s Uptown Swirl in downtown Brenham.  They also discussed potential changes to the format of this year’s work plan for Main Street’s four committees, those being design, organization, promotion and economic vitality.  The board is considering reorganizing which committee work can be done collaboratively versus individually.
