BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO EVALUATE SUPERINTENDENT, VOTE ON ELECTION ITEMS

The annual evaluation of Burton ISD Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy and items for the May 7th school board election will lead tonight’s (Tuesday) discussion for Burton ISD trustees.

The board will hold an executive session to discuss Dr. Kennedy’s evaluation, contract and salary.  It last voted to extend her contract by one year through June 30, 2024 during last January’s evaluation.

Dr. Kennedy joined Burton ISD in February 2015 after the retirement of former superintendent James Palmer.

Also at tonight’s meeting, the board will consider a joint election contract with the City of Burton, along with an order for the May 7th election for the board positions held by Demetrius Colvin, Sr. and Jeff Harmel.  It will then consider appointing election officials.

Trustees will also take up an order authorizing the issuance, sale and delivery of Burton ISD unlimited tax school building bonds and other items related to the payment of the bond.  They will also receive an update on the bond project from Reliance Architecture and DSA, and will review and discuss the Texas Education Agency’s COVID-19 updates.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the Burton High School auditorium.
