BRENHAM FIREFIGHTERS RESPOND WEDNESDAY TO HOUSE FIRE, TWO-VEHICLE CRASH

  

The Brenham Fire Department had a busy Wednesday afternoon, responding to a house fire and a two-vehicle accident.

The department was called out just after 2 p.m. to a reported structure fire in the 400 block of Lott Lane.  Units arrived and found heavy smoke coming from a manufactured home.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and cleared smoke from the home, which sustained heavy fire damage to one bedroom and smoke and heat damage to the rest of the house.

No one was home at the time of the fire, but firefighters rescued the family dog from the house.  The dog is reported to be doing well.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.

Shortly after 4:15 p.m., units responded to a crash with entrapment by Whataburger at 2801 Highway 36 South.  There, units found a two-vehicle accident with one person trapped inside one of the vehicles.

Firefighters used extrication equipment to free the victim, who was transported to the hospital in unknown condition.  They also used absorbent to clean up fluids leaking from the vehicles.
