TxDOT TO HOST PUBLIC MEETING ON HIGHWAY 290 – FM 1155 INTERSECTION

Chappell Hill residents are invited on Thursday to a public meeting hosted by TxDOT to learn and provide feedback on proposed improvements to the Highway 290 – FM 1155 intersection.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department Training Center, and will be led by TxDOT Area Engineer Eric Bennett.

The presentation will recap the virtual public meeting hosted by TxDOT last month regarding the intersection, and will inform the public of the process and metrics used during project evaluation.

Last month’s virtual meeting showed three concepts proposed by TxDOT to overhaul the intersection.  They included a median U-turn intersection, an overpass, and moving part of the highway south of Chappell Hill.

Concept 1 would block the direct north/south movement through the intersection and allow drivers to make a U-turn further down Highway 290 in order to cross the highway.
Concept 2 is the traditional overpass design with the Highway 290 traffic bridged over the 1155 – Main Street traffic.
Concept 3 moves three miles of Highway 290 to a location south of Chappell Hill with bridges over Chadwick-Hogan Road, Nicholson Lake Road, and FM 1371. This design would require acquiring the most right of way.
