BUSINESS 290 IN DOWNTOWN BRENHAM TO UNDERGO NIGHTTIME PAVING OPERATIONS BEGINNING SUNDAY

Starting Sunday night, a TxDOT contractor will perform the last phase of asphalt work on Main and Alamo Streets, also known as Business 290, in downtown Brenham.

This is the final phase of the mill and inlay project that took place prior to Christmas on Business 36.  Work will include milling the old asphalt, applying new asphalt, performing concrete curb work and repainting all parking spots and lane markings.

TxDOT crews will begin work each evening at 7 p.m.  Citizens are asked to avoid parking on Main and Alamo, between Market Street and Austin Street, after that time.

Drivers can expect delays and various lane closures along Business 290 throughout the operation.

TxDOT says the contractor, Knife River Corporation, plans to work until around 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday.  It does not plan to conduct work on Friday or Saturday nights.

The project is valued at $2.7 million.  Operations are expected to be complete by the end of February.
