The 18th-ranked Blinn College women’s basketball team rallied to defeat Paris Junior College 79-74 in overtime in Region XIV Conference action Wednesday in Paris, Texas.

The Buccaneers have won four straight games and improved to 23-3 overall and 12-3 in league play, moving into a first-place tie for the region lead with No. 7 Tyler Junior College. Tyler currently owns the tiebreaker over Blinn by virtue of an 88-80 home win over the Bucs on Jan. 26. Blinn and Tyler will face off in both teams’ regular-season finale on Saturday, Feb. 26, in Brenham

Paris (8-18, 4-11 Region XIV) gave Blinn another tough region tilt Wednesday, as the Bucs were forced to rally from a double-digit deficit to force the overtime period.

Paris took a 37-34 lead into halftime and led 53-50 heading into the fourth period. The Dragons were ahead 12 in the fourth quarter before Blinn rallied to tie the game 67-67 by the end of regulation.

The Bucs outscored Paris 12-7 in overtime.

“We found a way to win tonight,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We got stops and baskets when we needed them. It was a complete team win, and everybody on the roster did their job when they got their opportunity.”

Freshman forward Tiffany Tullis led Blinn with 24 points, freshman guard Skylar Barnes had 16, and freshman guards Makayla Patterson and Jakoriah Long pitched in 10 apiece. Freshman guard Hannah Humphrey added nine points while sophomore forward Deja Adrian tallied eight.

The Bucs will host region adversary Angelina College at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Kruse Center in Brenham. The Blinn men’s team will face Jacksonville College following the conclusion of the women’s ballgame and will celebrate Sophomore Day.
